Baltimore and Centre Sts; Population: 30,000; The second largest city in Maryland. Once a fort, now a prosperous coal shipping and manufacturing center. There are many steel rolling mills.

Martin's Mountain Summit 8.6 -56.6:   Martin Mountain summit, the highest point on the highway between Cumberland and Baltimore. Gas and lunch.

Flintstone Hotel 8.6 -56.6:   FLINTSTONE
Pop. 175; hotel, meals and garages; lies in Mirror Gap; an old quaint village that was important in the days of the stagecoach.

Parker Auto Camp 13.4 -51.2:   Parker Camp, free (W-C-T-L), very fair. Garage and rooms.
Yonker's Store - Polish Mtn. Summit 15.1 -49.5:   Polish Mountain summit; water, store, oil. The west side is one of the hardest pulls on the route because of the many sharp curves. Descend in second gear.
Shipway's Camp - Green Ridge summit 20.7 -43.9:  Green Ridge summit; store and garage; Shipway's Camp, 25c (W-C-L-T-O-S). Rating 75, Also free camp (W-C-L-T-S)
21.6 -43:  Camping; open grassy space (W), foot of mountain
Town Hill Mountain summit 23.2 -41.4:  Town Hill Mt. summit; new hotel, under construction; meals and garage. Md., Pa.,Va., and W. Va, visible on clear days. Camp 50c (W-C-L-T-F), shade and kitchen, supplies. Rating 80.
26.3 -38.3:  Rooms and meals at modern residence.
Norris Garage 26.8 -37.8:  CITIZENS GARAGE,
J.C. Smith, prop. is an expert mechanic. Honest charges; labor 75c - $1; phone 4026F15; brakes relined. (Note: This may have been the predecessor of Norris' Garage)
Bellegrove State Camp

Bellegrove Tourist Camp
27.5 -37.1:  Bellgrove State Camp (Free-W-F-L-C-T-O), store and garage; occupying 3-1/2 acres; fair. Rating 60.

Top of Sideling Mountain 30.7 -33.9:  Sideling Hill Mountain summit; lunch stand; water 10c a bucket. West side is the steepest; think it is the hardest pull on the highway; very, very few make it in high gear. Stop for fine view of the valley below.
31.7 -32.9:  Water at spring; gas.
33.5 -31.1:  Gas, rooms,phone; camp space (W-C-S)
35.7 -28.9:  State Camp; store and gas (W-F-C-T). Rating 45.
Main St. Hancock, MD 38.2 -26.4:   HANCOCK, MD.:
pop. 1500; interestingly located. Across the river is West Virginia and 2 miles north is Pa. A great apple selection; 50,000 trees in one orchard; many peaches grown; also fine silica glass sand is found.
Hotel Monterey HOTEL MONTEREY (*), now newly managed; good beds; water in halls, a few rooms with bath; single $1.25 - $1.50, double $2.50 - $4.
HOTEL REID (*), well managed; water in some rooms; single $1 - $1.50, double $2 - $2.50; restaurant in connection.
CENTRAL GARAGE (), leads; skilled men and good machine shop; labor $1; ph. 30 for road service; night phone 46F5.

48.9 -15.7:  INDIAN SPRINGS; the Big Pool is 2 miles south.
50.8 -13.8:  Fairview or North Mountain summit, the first real mountain going west; gas, and small camping space (W-C).
51.4 -13.2:  Everett Camp, 50c (W-C-L-T), covered ovens, bungalows. Rating 75. (Need Photo)
53.2 -11.4:  CLEAR SPRINGS; pop. 600; hotel, meals, garage. (Need Photos)
Rows Amusement Park at Wilson, MD 57.8 -6.8:  State Camp (Ed.- Conococheague at Wilson); fine swimming, grass (W-F-C-T-E), store and gas; good 2-1/2 acre camp. Rating 65.
